“As a whole, the overall sum of both the public and private BASD Websites
is one of the most comprehensive, architecturally scalable and programmatically
exciting online collaboration environments ever owned by any school district; and
on top of all of that – it is simply an awesome tool for District residents, students,
teachers and staff.
“Collectively experiencing 1 Million hits per month upon release, we’re excited
about the exposure opportunities that the Boyertown Area School District Internet
presence delivers to qualified advertisers who will flourish from its dedicated
family scholastic demographic.”
~ Darrell K Kean (President/CEO, Media Fusion Technologies, Inc.)
PUBLIC INTERNET WEBSITE:
In July of 2007, Media Fusion Technologies launched the new public website for the
Boyertown Area School District -
boyertownasd.org
- delivering a
fresh, contemporary design and launching BASD into the very latest in dynamic website
technologies.
The new website – hosted and maintained on MFT’s servers – features custom design
and programming by MFT in the latest Microsoft .NET 2.0 framework allowing for maximum
dynamics, functionality, stability and security. Authorized BASD staff control the
website content live-time 24/7 via MFT’s Content Management System (CMS), a comprehensive
and secure remote administration control panel that is accessible through any web
browser.
This control allows BASD staff to add emergency closings, delays and general notices
to the website instantly. Additional dynamic features include complete details on
every school in the district, sports and events calendars, curriculum details and
resources, services, staff directory and much more. The new website also provides
details on school board meeting schedules, agendas and reports and allows users
to download the detailed minutes from every board meeting.
A critical community-minded security feature of the website (recommended and provided
by MFT) gives BASD officials the ability to send emergency alerts via email and
cell phone text message to all parents, staff, students and community members who
subscribe – through the Website – to the Community Emergency Notification Text Service
(CENTS).
The CENTS system will utilize the latest in list server technologies to provide
immediate, potentially life-saving notification to the community in the event of
district-related emergencies and can also be used by community emergency response
and Homeland Security officials if authorized by BASD.
PRIVATE INTRANET WEBSITES - BASD SafeNet:
In October of 2007, Media Fusion Technologies launched the new BASD Intranet,
delivering BASD’s internal communications and administration into the very latest
in secure and dynamic website technologies. This release marks phase II of a collaborative
effort to substantially augment BASD’s web presence and Intranet administrative
capabilities.
Although multi-tiered and extensible, the Intranet is currently divided into two
primary sites: a staff site and a student site, both of which seamlessly gather
user information and login credentials from BASD’s pre-existing, in-house database.
Apart from the staff / student login security separation, both sites offer the same
core functionality.

“We absolutely love what the BASD Student Intranet has done for our family. The kids love networking with their friends,
and their teachers and I love knowing that they’re doing that in the monitored,
secure environment of the BASD Safe-Net.”

The BASD Intranet centrally networks more than 8,000 staff and students into one
virtual classroom. With no knowledge of web design, each user can easily create
and maintain their own Intranet profile page including image uploads, information
and HTML formatting through MFT’s proprietary technology. This provides staff members
with the ability to share confidential information among themselves as well as post
homework and other important information which students and parents can view remotely
from any Internet web browser upon student login.
Additionally, this BASD login interface creates a secure private social network,
the content of which is monitored by BASD staff. While students
can share information and network with other students and staff, parents can rest
easy knowing that their sons and daughters are doing so within the secure, closed
network of BASD rather than on the public Worldwide Web.
For security purposes, further details regarding the architecture of MFT’s applied
technologies were not made available.
